Yesterday night, as I was browsing through the TV channels in my PG in Kodambakkam, I came across a TV reality show titled 'Knights and Angels' in NDTV Imagine. As I almost seemed to press the keys of the dilapidated remote of the vintage TV set to skip the programme, something stopped me from doing so. To my surprise I caught sight of a bunch of funky, suave and sexy teenage chiks cheering and dancing to contemporary Hindi songs. The panel of judjes arose more astonishment. I saw a spectacled Saurav Ganguly and Murali Kartik along with Minisha Lamba of Bachna fame. Little did I realise that these so called judges were chosing a bunch of cheerleaders for the SRK owned IPL team 'KnightRiders'.
The entire concept amused me. For the first time in TV history a reality show to select cheerleaders for a cricket tournament was showcased. As I went deeper into the novel concept, I could realise the impact of this talent hunt to KnightRiders marketibility and SRK's fortune.
What an idea SirJEE...!!!!....This Badshah of Bollywood is simply a business guru. Simply imagine what appears certainly and imperatively as a cost has been turned into a revenue generation stunt by our own King Khan. This show is produced by Red Chillies Idiot Box and is arousing quite a bit of curiosity among the hard core SRK fans. Though Srk is not in the judges panel his mere ownership of the team has garnered a dedicated viewership.
As I pondered over it I realized no wonder KnightRiders was the highest profit maker in the 1st season of IPL, infact the only profit making team apart from Rajasthan Royals who went on to win the championship. The business excellence, the foresight, the amazing marketing panache and the elegant persona of this man is uncomparable. Remember he is competing with industrial bigwigs like Mukesh Ambani and the liquor czar Mr Mallya. Their hot shot business acumen and experience coudnt save their teams from being lost in the oblivion.
